Now I can say I walked on water...

Recently, I read on a website that if you haven't seen Stockholm, you haven't seen Sweden.

I am not sure about that; I would have to see more of Sweden in order to prove that theory right or wrong. But I can say that Stockholm itself in a very beautiful, very interesting city. It will take me several posts in order to capture the essence and beauty of it. (I hope you don't mind!)

Located along Sweden's south-eastern coast, it is often called the Venice of the North since it actually a series of fourteen islands connected by bridges. We spent the majority of our time in Gamla Stan (Old Town), which was first established in the 13th century. It is a charming part of the city, with medieval alleyways, cobbled streets, and iconic architecture.

Here's a satellite picture of it, for your enjoyment:

Over the next few weeks I will share with you many points of interest on this little island.

However, of all the things we did and saw in Stockholm and Gamla Stan, the thing that brought me the most child-like excitement was being able to walk on water.

That, and being able to touch a Viking ship from 1628.

But today we are talking about me walking on water.

Sure, it was frozen. But I walked on it. The first time in my entire 27 years of being that I was able to do it.

At first I couldn't believe my eyes. The ice was so thick that it was able to support that many people.

I admit that I was a little timid at first to try it, but then I walked out onto the ice. And it didn't crack, or even budge in the least.

And here is Peter, completely enthused about getting his picture taken.

Something new I am going to start with my travel posts is to also include a recipe from that country. I don't have anything from Sweden next, I promise to next week. So in the meantime, here is a Danish meal that we recently had. Because, we all know that Danes and Swedes are pretty much the same.

Now I gotta find a place to hide before Peter gets home.

Just click on the pictures to go to the recipes.
